Article 112 of the Highway Code

Bicycles

1 - A velocipede is a vehicle with two or more wheels driven by the driver's own effort using pedals or similar devices. 2 - A motorized velocipede is a velocipede equipped with an auxiliary motor with a maximum continuous power of 0.25 kW, whose power is progressively reduced as speed increases and interrupted if it reaches a speed of 25 km/h, or earlier, if the driver stops pedaling.
3 - For the purposes of this Code, motorized bicycles, motorized scooters, as well as self-balancing and self-propelled electric motorized circulation devices or other similar motorized means of circulation are considered to be bicycles.
